Villa Park has become the first stadium in the UK to offer Vodafone 4G mobile coverage to fans on a matchday.
This service is available thanks to a tie-up between the club and Vodafone and took 18 months to install.
Network availability within a packed stadium bowl is typically a problem at sporting events across the world and something that supporters have asked the club to review a number of times.
Typical download speeds of 4G are around five to seven times faster than that of 3G, which means supporters can now benefit from ultra-fast access to online content such as live scores, social media and video on their phones without network issues.
Not only will this new 4G service make it much faster to surf the web on your mobile device, the solution installed by Vodafone also boosts 2G and 3G signals allowing you to make and receive calls anywhere within the stadium.
Mobile customers who do not have Vodafone as their provider may not see an immediate lift in their service quality at Villa Park.
It is common practice for network providers to share infrastructure and this is an area Vodafone are exploring.
Richard Hollingsworth, Villa's Head of IT, said: "This is great news for our supporters, particularly those who actively rely on their mobile phones.
"We are always looking to improve the matchday experience for fans and this is another step towards doing that."
Shane O'Donoghue at Vodafone said: "We've been working hard with Aston Villa to help provide the best match day experience for fans at Villa Park.
"Vodafone's ultrafast 4G adds an exciting new dimension to watching live football, bringing broadband speed connectivity to the fan in the stand.
"Our signal boosting solution also means that 2G and 3G coverage will also be improved in the stadium, so fans can stay connected while at the game.
"We're delighted to be working with Aston Villa to bring the best match day experience to fans."
