FT: Villa 1-0 Chelsea [Delph 82]

Half-time report

Villa did an exemplary job in keeping the Barclays Premier League leaders at bay in the first period.

There was a brief scare for Paul Lambert's team late in the half when Nemanja Matic bundled home from close range, but his effort was ruled out for handball.

The claret and blues mainly restricted Chelsea to long-range shoots.

Willian found the side-netting from 25 yards, while Oscar fired wide after a one-two with his Brazil team-mate.

It wasn't all about defence for Villa, though.

Christian Benteke headed over from Fabian Delph's cross after an excellent team move.

The Belgian striker also went close with an acrobatic half-volley from the edge of the box.

Villa's match console is the ultimate place to be to follow the game against Chelsea.
