Confident Bacuna backed to get better and better

Brad Guzan has hailed the impact of Leandro Bacuna at Villa - but stressed the versatile ace will get better and better.

Guzan admires the defensive resilience of Bacuna, his ability to motor forward to join attacks, his crossing class and his exemplary finishing ability.

The No.1 also likes Bacuna's infectious personality around the training ground.

He has been really impressed by Bacuna's ability to fit seamlessly into the team after only arriving in England in the summer.

For that reason - and his fast-paced start to top-flight life - Guzan thinks Bacuna will go from strength to strength.

He said: "Leo has come in straight away and done the business. It's never easy coming to the Premier League from abroad and stepping right in.

"He has so many attributes too. He is versatile - that goes without saying because he has played in numerous position this season already.

"But, looking at the right-back role which he is playing at the moment, he has a very strong engine to get up the pitch - just look at how far he ran to score the goal against Norwich - but he also defends very well too.

"That's the most important part of the role - as a right-back, first and foremost you have to defend. That's your job. He's done very well with that.

"But he brings other things to the table too, like putting fantastic balls into the box and scoring some great goals too!

"His free-kicks against Man City and Cardiff were special and I thought his finish against Norwich was top-drawer. The composure he displayed to get the ball in the right place to fire home was superb. It was so well-taken.

"It speaks volumes for his confidence at the moment, too. He's on a real high.

"He's a bubbly, bouncy and confident person off the field. He is enjoying himself here at Villa.

"He's just a good guy who wants to improve and progress as a player and help improve and progress the team as a whole too. He will go far.

"It's never easy when you are thrown straight into a Premier League side but Leo has done brilliantly.

"He will continue to get better and get a better understanding of the division and what it's all about."
