Gabby Agbonlahor looked back on the impressive win over Norwich and insisted: "Don't underestimate the role of Karim El Ahmadi."
Villa saw off Norwich 4-1 as Christian Benteke bagged a brace, Leandro Bacuna finished well and Sebastian Bassong scored an own-goal.
Benteke has received the plaudits after his powerful performance.
But Agbonlahor was impressed with El Ahmadi.
He said: "Karim goes about his job with minimum fuss.
"He does a lot of work that simply goes unnoticed. He works his socks off in there and plays an important role for the team.
"He breaks up play. He hunts down the ball. He gives the opposition players no time whatsoever.
"Christian has got a lot of credit and Ashley has too, alongside Fabian.
"But Karim shouldn't be forgotten because he's important.
"Fans might not see it sometimes but the players do. They know the work he gets through.
"He's only just in the Premier League too. He's been here for just under two seasons so he will get better and you will see him progress even more."
