Paul Lambert insists Marc Albrighton has a big contribution to make for Villa.
Lambert says that Albrighton was unlucky to be left out of the starting line-up at Newcastle, after generally impressing the boss greatly over the past few weeks.
In fact, the manager pulled the winger to one side this week to reveal the reasons behind his omission on Tyneside.
And, unsurprisingly to the gaffer, Albrighton took the informative chat with good grace - and a determination to force his way back into the team against the Canaries on Sunday.
On whether Albrighton was unlucky not to be involved at St James Park, Lambert said: "There's no doubt about it.
"I had a word with Marc during the week. I told him that certain games require different things. He was great.
"He had staked his claim. But my job was picking a team I thought could get a result. Marc was really unfortunate but that is football.
"He has been very unfortunate because of his injuries. He has had two metatarsal problems back to back which were a blow and then a throat problem which required an operation.
"We let him out on loan to get games. He came back and he's been in and out over the last couple of matches.
"But he's done really well for us.
"He doesn't sulk. He's a good kid. He's a really good guy. He's quiet. But he's a good player."
