Barrie Rhodes was celebrating long before Andi Weimann scored Villa's winner against Manchester City.
The 66-year-old from Coventry arrived at Villa Park to discover he had won a draw made among supporters who had filled in the club's online transport survey.
Barry's prize was a cheque for £285 - the value of his season ticket in the lower tier of the Doug Ellis stand.
"That's brilliant," said Barry, who has followed Villa since 1958 and was also given a free ticket for the second replay of the 1977 League Cup final at Old Trafford - by his neighbour Dennis Mortimer!
Supporters are being encouraged to have their say on travel to and from Villa Park.
The information provided in the annual online transport survey will form a critical part of our Transport Plan as we work towards making travel as easy and enjoyable as possible.
Transport is an important topic at Villa and each year the club will conduct this survey.
Please take part - because it will really help us shape traffic and transport for years to come.
We are dedicated to improving the travelling experience to and from the stadium.
The survey allows us to understand the current methods of transport being used to access the stadium and identify what steps we can take with third party transport/car park providers to ease your journeys.
All supporters taking part will be entered into a free prize draw to win a 2014-15 season ticket, simply by choosing to leave your name and contact details at the end of the survey.
All answers, however, will remain anonymous and confidential.
Fill in the survey.
