Fabian Delph joked that he was chasing a third goal in the second half to claim a derby hat-trick in the Baggies win.
Delph, of course, scored a scorcher in the 4-3 victory, after an unfortunate own-goal early on in the Albion encounter.
The midfield ace saw the funny side after the game - and admits that the horror of that early concession drove him on to great things afterwards.
He told AVTV: "We were all delighted. We knew we had to win the game.
"We have bragging right in the Midlands now.
"It's a derby so everything goes out of the window and anything can happen.
"It was very important for the club, the fans, the players and management.
"We won. We are happy. It was massive.
"The first half had everything. We were disappointed going in at half-time because we conceded two sloppy goals. It was two silly goals.
"But we kept going, we fought hard and we have got the result. The fire in our bellies was there.
"There was no panic when the second went in. I was telling myself: "I need to get a goal. I need to put it right." I needed to keep going and stay focused. I managed to do that.
"I got the goal! Sometimes when you strike the ball and it comes off your foot, you get an inkling that something is going to happen. It was like that on this occasion.
"Thankfully it flew into the net. I then managed to run off celebrating! It felt good. It felt really good.
"I was then pushing for another goal so I could say I got a hat-trick!
"The penalty to win it from Christian was brilliant. He took it perfectly. To wait for the keeper to move shows real guts from Christian. I am really happy for him.
"He's back to his old self. He's scoring goals again. Our strikers are in good form.
"We have two of the best strikers in the league, in my opinion. I knew we could get goals.
"The work-rate from the midfield and the defence was good. The desire to win games is there. We have confidence going into Saturday now. We are looking forward to the Everton game."
