Grant Holt says Villa will travel to Liverpool with a "mentality to win."
Holt may have only trained with the team for two days but, knowing Paul Lambert during their time together at Norwich, he is aware of the gaffer's belief in being positive.
The newboy fully expects the Reds to be favourites but he says the unpredictability of the Barclays Premier League dictates that any result is possible on Saturday.
He said: "When I was with the gaffer at Norwich, we scored at good grounds.
"I am under no illusions how hard it is going to these places.
"But when I was with the gaffer at Norwich, we always went with a mentality to win, score goals and perform.
"You can't shut up shop at these places. You have to go and have a go.
"The gaffer expects hard work. He expects his team to want to win, give it everything and come off with no regrets. If you do that, he's happy.
"I know Villa beat Liverpool last time at Anfield. That's this division in a nutshell.
"Anyone can win anywhere. That's why everyone loves it - the unpredictability.
"As a club, we want to keep picking up points and steer towards that top end.
"You do that by winning the games you should but picking up victories or draws at places you're not expecting to - that helps."
Interestingly, Holt came off the bench and scored within three minutes to earn a draw for the Canaries at Anfield in October 2011.
He certainly has fond memories of that.
He added: "It was a good goal to be fair.
"I was on the bench. The gaffer taught me a lesson doing that because I was having a bit of a wobble at the time. But I came on and scored.
"Now at Villa, I have to be ready. When called upon, I will be there."
