Fit-again Albrighton wins December player of the month award

Marc Albrighton has emerged victorious in the player of the month poll for December.

Albrighton - just back from a long spell on the sidelines with a variety of niggling issues - picked up seven points, one more than runners-up Fabian Delph and Gabby Agbonlahor.

Albrighton was voted No.1 for Villa v Man Utd as well as No.2 for Stoke v Villa and Villa v Swansea.

Delph was No.1 for Southampton v Villa, No.2 for Fulham v Villa and No.3 for Stoke v Villa.

Agbonlahor was No.1 for Villa v Swansea, No.2 for Southampton v Villa and No.3 for Fulham v Villa.

Delph leads the overall player of the year standings with a whopping 31 points but Agbonlahor has raced into No.2 spot on 16 points after his stunning January 1 display against Sunderland, which will feature towards next month's poll.

Leandro Bacuna is No.3 in the overall running with 14 points, Ron Vlaar comes next on 13 points after his No.2 placing at Sunderland and Albrighton is at No.5 with nine points.

Delph won the player of the month award for August, September and October while skipper Vlaar won it in November.

The winner of the points race wins the Supporters Player of the Year award, also known as the Mars-sponsored Terrace Trophy.

Previous winners of this prestigious award include Gareth Barry, Stiliyan Petrov, James Milner, Dennis Mortimer and Nigel Sims.

Snap up match tickets for Villa v Arsenal.
