FT: Villa 0-1 Crystal Palace [Gayle 90]

Half-time report

Neither side could muster any clear-cut opportunities in a very cagey first half.

Libor Kozak and Marc Albrighton combined on a couple of occasions, but never really troubled Palace keeper Julian Speroni.

Firstly, Kozak reached Albrighton's chipped through ball but sent his half-volley off target.

Then the Czech striker had a glancing header saved from an Albrighton cross but there was no real conviction behind it.

In the dying seconds of the half, Adrian Mariappa was forced to head over his own bar after Kozak flicked on Gabby Agbonlahor's cross.

The closest the visitors came was a low 18-yard shot from Yannick Bolasie which went wide.
