Andreas Weimann has backed Libor Kozak to impress in the absence of injured Christian Benteke.
Benteke missed the Stoke match with a knee problem - on top of a few niggling fitness issues - and boss Paul Lambert said it was unlikely the bruising forward would be available for the Crystal Palace match either.
Kozak played in his absence at the Britannia Stadium, led the line well and bagged a goal.
Strike partner Weimann acknowledged the impact of the tall Czech star.
He said: "I have been very impressed with what I have seen of Libor since he arrived at the football club.
"He's a big, strong forward who will hold the ball up for you and bring others into play.
"He doesn't give centre-halves a moment's peace because he's always competing very hard.
"But he certainly knows where the net is also. He's a good finisher. He's proved that already in the short time he's been here.
"He's a quiet lad but a popular guy in the dressing room too.
"Christian is obviously a big player for us so we obviously miss him when he's not out there but Libor came in against Stoke and played really well.
"He got another goal and he looked really good.
"I was really pleased for him. He's been really good for us every time he's played.
"He does really well for the team, holds the ball up as I said and obviously scored which will give him a confidence boost."
Weimann admitted he's eager to find the net again too.
He added: "Every game I try my best. I did against Stoke again.
"Unfortunately I didn't get a clear-cut chance. But I worked as hard as I could to help the team.
"Obviously I'd like to score a few more goals but I'm just trying to do my best and hopefully I can get another goal soon."
