Dwight Yorke believes Christian Benteke just has to "keep the faith" to come through his dry goalscoring run.
Yorke says he knows exactly what Benteke is feeling, insisting that all good strikers - including himself in his prime - go through barren spells in front of goal.
Yorke has absolutely no doubts that Benteke will hit the target again soon and be completely revitalised in the coming weeks and months ahead.
He said: "Christian is a young guy. People should remember that.
"No-one knew much about him when he arrived. There is always a surprise package each season - and that was Christian.
"He was the main man and helped Villa when it looked dicey at stages.
"He turned it around for us with his goals.
"He started off this campaign really well with a couple at Arsenal and another at Chelsea. But he hasn't kicked on yet.
"But it will be a learning curve for him as he develops.
"All strikers go through periods where they don't score on a regular basis. You try to figure out where the next goal is coming.
"But he has everything. He has good height, good pace, he's a great header of the ball, he's good on the floor and he's a top target man. He's got the attributes to be great.
"I have been through what he's going through. He just has to keep the faith."
Yorke also paid tribute to Gabby Agbonlahor, the forward who broke his Barclays Premier League goalscoring record for Villa.
Yorke thinks Agbonlahor is always a threat for the claret and blues.
He added: "I was pleased for him. Records are there to be broken.
"He has great ability, pace and power.
"It's great that he is the top of the list now because it will make him proud, like I was.
"He has everything on his day. It's there for everyone to see. He has all the attributes.
"He's still a young man - 27 - he has a lot a lot ahead of him to become even better."
