Paul Lambert says Aleksandar Tonev has the pace and energy to be a big success for Villa.
Boss Lambert has been very happy with Tonev's effort levels in claret and blue since his arrival in the summer.
The manager accepts that it could take Tonev a little bit more time to settle fully after swapping the Ekstraklasa for the Barclays Premier League.
But he insists that the early signs are good for the pacy wideman.
He said: "Aleks is lightning quick.
"You have to give people time to hit ground running. It can take them a good bit of time.
"But I have been happy with Aleks. Sometimes you make mistakes but his energy levels are very, very high.
"Some new signings take longer than others, that's to be expected. You have to wait for that time.
"But I have no problem with his contribution."
Lambert's comments come hot on the heels of those of Andreas Weimann, who hailed the footballing excellence of Tonev.
He added: "If you look at what you want in a footballer, Aleks has got everything.
"He's strong, quick, he's two-footed, he's a good crosser and he's dangerous going-forward.
"He has had a few shots so far but maybe he's trying a bit too hard.
"In training, he scores every day. You know he will find the target at Bodymoor and there are some crackers with both feet.
"Perhaps in games, as I said, he tries too hard. But in matches, we know what he's doing and we know what he's capable of.
"That's why we will never give him a hard time if he has a shot. It's only a matter of time before he scores a screamer.
"Aleks is getting better all the time and we're confident he will make a big impact here at the club.
"He's a special talent. I think he will come through to be an important player for us. That's what I think - and what I hope."
