Paul Lambert has hailed the influence of Yacouba Sylla on the eve of the Baggies derby.
Villa face West Brom on Monday and Lambert told reporters in his pre-match press conference that Sylla's displays have been very pleasing this term.
Villa picked up four points in the last two games against West Ham and Cardiff, both matches that Sylla has started in claret and blue.
Lambert knows the importance of the midfield terrier but believes some others don't fully appreciate his value to the side.
Sylla played a vital role in the closing weeks of the previous campaign but picked up a thigh injury early on this term.
Now he's back to his best - and Lambert is thrilled to have him firing on all cylinders once again.
He said: "Yac does well for us He's been great. He really has.
"He puts a big amount of work in. He goes unnoticed at times.
"You want him to do well too because he's a really likeable guy.
"When you're up against him, you certainly know you're in a game.
"He doesn't get the plaudits he deserves at times.
"But I think the last few games he's been excellent for us."
