Ron Vlaar admits he loves the tingling tension of derby night as Villa get set to face West Brom.
Vlaar says he thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere at both Baggies matches in the previous campaign - a 1-1 at Villa Park and 2-2 at The Hawthorns.
He's relishing the latest Albion match on Monday and hopes Villa can get the win he felt they should have picked up on away soil last time out.
Villa rushed into a 2-0 lead courtesy of Christian Benteke and Gabby Agbonlahor and had numerous chances to finish the contest, Eric Lichaj spurning the best of these.
But the hosts came back strong after the break, Chris Brunt and Peter Odemwingie earning the draw.
Vlaar said: "I enjoyed the derbies last time out. It's great to play in these games. You could feel the rivalry in both matches.
"I think we should have won the away game. We were 2-0 up and should have scored another two goals in that first half and killed the game.
"But we didn't and it ended up as a draw.
"I am looking forward to this new game. It will be great to play in. These matches have extra tension in the air and the atmosphere is always electric.
"They are a good team. They beat Man Utd and could have done the same at Chelsea. They have a good team and they had a good season last time out. They are close by us in the table.
"They have Nicolas Anelka with them this season. I remember watching him when he played for Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.
"He's still a great player. His pace is still unbelievable. I look forward to facing him."
While Vlaar loves the Baggies clashes, he admits he'd give anything to face the Blues.
He added: "I have heard all about the derby games with Birmingham City.
"When I'm out doing my grocery shopping, I see Blues fans wearing their shirts and tracksuits.
"I haven't played in a game against them but the rivalry is well-known in the area.
"It would be great to play that game again. Maybe we could play them in the FA Cup?"
