Villa U18 5-4 Norwich U18: McKirdy double helps hosts to win

Villa returned to winning ways in the Barclays U18 Premier League, edging a nine-goal thriller against Norwich.

After losing at West Ham last weekend in only their second defeat of the campaign, Tony McAndrew's side were determined to bounce back.

The claret and blues came flying out of the blocks, surging into a 4-1 half-time lead.

It took just two minutes for Henry Cowans to put Villa ahead.

Harry McKirdy scored on 16 minutes and 29 minutes, then Riccardo Calder netted just before the break.

The Canaries staged a fightback but Jerell Sellars added Villa's fifth 11 minutes from time.

Villa travel to Chelsea in the league on Saturday.
