Paul Lambert believes Fabian Delph will be fit enough to play against Cardiff City this weekend.
Lambert revealed Delph missed the West Ham clash with a sickness bug, similar to the one which kept Ciaran Clark out of the Tottenham clash.
But Villa boss Lambert is confident the dynamic midfielder will be fine for Saturday.
It will certainly be a welcome boost for the claret and blue troops with Delph playing some of the finest football of his career to date.
Lambert said: "When you look at the ones we lost against West Ham, Fabian has been fantastic for us.
"He had a bug on Thursday and Friday so that was a blow to see him miss this game at Upton Park.
"I'm pretty sure Fabian's bug is only a short term kind of thing.
"He pulled out of training on Thursday. He came in on Friday but he still didn't look the greatest so we sent him home.
"There's been a bug going around. Ciaran had it the other week so hopefully Fabian will be all right for the next game.
"He's been playing great for us."
Lambert is also waiting on news of Andreas Weimann, who was forced off at Upton Park through injury.
Lambert thinks it's a hamstring problem but will get an update this week from his medical staff.
He added: "It looks like a hamstring at the minute. I don't know how severe it is.
"The thing is we've got one more game then we get a break so hopefully the break helps him."
