Villa v Everton: Focused Delph targets winning sequence

Fabian Delph insists Villa have what it takes to embark on a positive run of results - starting with this afternoon's clash against Everton.

Last weekend's defeat to Tottenham at Villa Park ended a sequence of three matches unbeaten for Paul Lambert's team.

That run included back-to-back wins over Norwich and Manchester City, as well as a hard-fought draw at Hull.

It has been a mixed run of results thus far for the claret and blues, although they have faced five of last season's top six already.

Now in-form Delph wants to see the side get some momentum going.

"We've had a few shock results this season where people wouldn't have thought we'd get anything out of the game, let alone get three points," he said.

"I don't see why we can't go on another good run.

"Everton is another tough game. They have started well and they've got a new style of football where they like to keep possession.

"But it is a game of football - it is two halves - and we'll be right there.

"Individually they are very good and they're at the top of their game.

"Collectively there seems to be a togetherness there too and they have been doing very well but we'll be up for the challenge."
