Villa v Tottenham: Agbonlahor - Gaffer is a joy to work with!

Gabby Agbonlahor has hailed boss Paul Lambert on the eve of the Tottenham game, saying that working under him is a delight.

Agbonlahor, usually a man of few words, was quick to praise the positive attitude of Lambert in camp at Bodymoor Heath.

Agbonlahor enjoys playing for Lambert because the manager believes in him - and encourages him to put on a show every time he takes to the field.

He said: "I enjoy working with the gaffer definitely. He is so positive to be around.

"When he first came in, he took me to one side and just told me to go out there, enjoy myself and express himself.

"That conversation was soon after he walked in the place.

"He has told me he wants me to just go out, play my game, play to my strengths and work hard."

Agbonlahor now hopes to be unleashed against Tottenham on Sunday.

Our popular pace ace, just back from injury, knows it will be a tough encounter but he has pinpointed the three S's as key for success.

Agbonlahor has been very pleased with Villa's start to the campaign, especially given - as he points out - the tough run of matches in the opening weeks of the season.

The fab forward was thrilled particularly with the wins over Arsenal and Manchester City.

He believes those victories show that Villa have, on their day, the ability to mix it with the big guns.

He praise the team's support, spirit and shape as major factors behind their smooth start and called for those factors to come to the fore once again this weekend.

He added: "We have started off really well. We have had one of the toughest schedules I've ever encountered during my time at Villa, when you look at the teams that we played.

"So far it's been really good. Where we lie in the table at the moment is really decent. It's really good overall. We think we can do better too.

"The wins over Arsenal and Man City just show what we can do. I am sure there were people who had written us off before we played both of them.

"With a good crowd, good tactics and a good team spirit, you can beat anyone on your day.

"We have Tottenham now on Sunday. You always look forward to these big games.

"We know it's going to be tough but we know it will be different from the cup one. We will try our hardest that's for sure."
