Villa U21 v Sunderland U21: Youngsters look to bounce back

Villa hope to return to winning ways in the Barclays U21 Premier League tonight when they welcome high-flying Sunderland.

The clash against the table-topping Black Cats has been switched to Tamworth's The Lamb ground and will kick off at 7pm.

In their last outing, the claret and blues suffered at disappointing 3-1 defeat against Southampton at St Mary's.

However, Gordon Cowans' team have been without several key players in recent weeks.

Graham Burke, Jack Grealish and Samir Carruthers have been plying their trade on loan at Shrewsbury, Notts County and MK Dons respectively.

Irish forward Burke returned from his spell at the League One outfit and could be back in contention for his parent club this evening.

It has been a mixed start to the campaign for Cowans' team, with a home win against Norwich, a draw against Tottenham and away defeats to Southampton and West Ham.

Sunderland, meanwhile, have won five and lost just one of their opening six games.

Their only defeat was a 5-2 reverse against Liverpool at Anfield on September 17.
