Dedicated Delph: I'll carry on putting in the miles during break

Fabian Delph will continue putting in the hard yards during the international break as he aims to build on his superb start to the season.

The former Leeds midfielder has been a standout figure for Villa so far this term, winning back-to-back player of the month awards after some sparkling displays.

Villa are without a game this weekend because of internationals and Delph admits he is already itching to get back in action.

The hard-working 24-year-old isn't a fan of breaks from action having missed a lot of football through injury over the past couple of seasons.

"Some of the players welcome a break," he said.

"We put in a shift behind the scenes and on a Saturday we are putting in a hell of a shift too.

"Some people welcome the break but personally I've been injured for so long I prefer to be playing week in, week out.

"I'll be out on my bike putting in the miles."

Delph reckons Villa were disappointed not to take all three points at Hull on Saturday.

But he says the team can be buoyed by their three-match unbeaten streak in the top flight.

"On the back of the two performances we've had we went to win the game," he added.

"You could see we probably had the more clear chances and unfortunately we couldn't get the win but we'll take the point away from home.

"To be fair to them they had two rows of four that saw the game through.

"We're not overly happy about the point as we were pushing for the win but we're unbeaten in three now so we'll take that.

"It is another clean sheet. No matter who you play in the Premier League, every game is a hard game and this was another challenge.

"We managed to come through it with a point. We'll take that and we'll look forward to the Saturday after the international break."
