Gabby Agbonlahor and Ashley Westwood could return to the Villa squad for Saturday's trip to Hull City.
Agbonlahor has been out of action with an ankle injury since the 1-0 victory over Norwich a fortnight ago, while a thigh strain has kept Westwood on the sidelines for the past three weeks.
But the pair resumed training this week and manager Paul Lambert is hoping to name both players in his squad for the clash at the KC Stadium.
"There's a few of them doing fine and they trained this morning," said Lambert.
"Gabby and Westy are doing alright. We'll see how they are tomorrow and if they don't react we'll put them in the squad."
Meanwhile, Lambert says Villa are in "good dialogue" with the Belgium national set-up over Christian Benteke's selection for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Benteke has been included in the squad for his nation team's games against Croatia and Wales even though he is recovering from a hip flexor injury.
"I've spoken to Belgium manager Marc Wilmots and the medical people have had good dialogue so there are no problems," the manager added.
"He is doing really well so we just have to wait and see how he is feeling.
"I've spoken to Christian every day as I do with everybody else. He is doing alright.
"I trust him to look after himself as well. You can only take him so far.
"I trust Christian, I've spoken to him and I've spoken to the medical people.
"I don't tend to get too caught up in the whole scenario."
