Jores Okore reckons fellow centre-back Ron Vlaar has been a calming influence during his settling-in period at Villa.
Okore hopes to resume his blossoming partnership with the skipper when Newcastle visit Villa Park on Saturday.
The Danish stopper has adapted quickly to rigours of the Barclays Premier League, putting in impressive performances against Chelsea and Liverpool.
And the 21-year-old claims Vlaar has made him feel at ease since the pair have started playing together.
"I think Ron is a really good defender," said Okore.
"He's a player with a lot of experience. He's the captain of our team and he steps forward on the pitch.
"I think it's really good to play with Ron and of course I've played most minutes with so I'm feeling really comfortable alongside him right now.
"Ron has played a lot of games in the Premier League now, so of course it helps playing with him.
"He's telling me things that I need to know now about how to play in this level.
"I'm really happy that Ron is there."
Former Nordsjaelland defender Okore says the step-up in tempo from Denmark's Superliga has been as he expected it.
"I've played in a lot of games and I've played international games, but the Premier League is still different," he said.
"It's a different style, it's more up tempo, there's a lot of things that happen fast and a lot of things that you need to be aware of that you don't need to be aware of in Denmark."
