Star striker Christian Benteke helped Belgium to a comfortable 2-0 win over Scotland at Hamden Park.
Goals from Stephen Defour and Kevin Mirallas in the Group A clash did the damage against Alan Hutton's side and put the Red Devils well on course for the World Cup in 2014.
Belgium are top of Group A with 22 points from eight games. Scotland are bottom with five points from eight games.
Belgium don't play on Tuesday but Hutton will be Gordon Strachan's team for their clash with Macedonia in Skopje.
In Group B, Aleksandar Tonev played 61 minutes for Bulgaria as they went down 1-0 against Italy in Palermo. Alberto Gilardino scored the only goal on 38 minutes.
Newboy Libor Kozak played 90 minutes but Czech Republic went down 2-1 at home to Armenia in Prague. Arsenal schemer Tomas Rosicky scored for the hosts but efforts from Karlen Mkrtchyan and Gevorg Ghazaryan won it for the visitors.
Jores Okore was an unused substitute as his side Denmark won 2-1 in Malta. Leon Andreason opened the scoring, Clayton Failla equalised but Ryan Camilleri won it for the Danes.
Bulgaria are second in Group B with 10 points from seven games. Italy are top with 14 points from six games. Czech Republic are third with nine points from seven games while Denmark are fifth out of six teams with nine points from seven matches.
Tonev's Bulgaria now face Malta in Tallinn on Tuesday, Czech Republic take on Italy in Turin while Denmark travel to Yerevan and a clash with Armenia.
In Group C, Ciaran Clark was also an unused sub as Republic of Ireland fell 2-1 at home to Sweden in Dublin. Former Villa loanee Robbie Keane opened the scoring but Johan Elmander and Anders Svensson spoilt the party atmosphere.
Andreas Weimann played for the full 90 minutes for Austria as they went down 3-0 to Germany in Munich, goals coming from Miroslav Klose, Toni Kroos and Thomas Mueller.
Austria and Republic of Ireland are joint third in Group C, with 11 points from seven games. Germany are at the summit with 19 points from seven matches.
On Tuesday, Clark and Weimann go head to head as Republic of Ireland face Austria in Vienna.
In Group D, Ron Vlaar was an unused sub as the Netherlands managed to secure a draw from the jaws of defeat in Estonia. They took the lead in the opening minute through Arjen Robben but the hosts hit back in Tallinn with a double from Konstantin Vassiljev before Robin van Persie equalised in the third minute of stoppage time.
Holland are top of Group D, with 19 points from seven games.
Now the Dutch take on Andorra away on Tuesday.
In the Europe section of World Cup qualifying, the top team in each group progresses to the finals. The second placed side from each group will contest round two of qualifying. The teams will be paired into four home-and-away ties. The matches will likely be played between November 15 and 19, 2013 and the winners also make it through to Brazil.
Brad Guzan was an unused sub as USA went down 3-1 to Costa Rica. Johnny Acosta and Celso Borges gave the hosts a good lead before Clint Dempsey pulled one back, only for Joel Campbell to guarantee victory late on.
USA are currently competing in the North, Central America and Caribbean region's traditional 'hexagonal' stage. Six teams meet in a home-and-away format between February 6 and October 15, 2013 with the top three sides qualifying directly for the tournament in Brazil. USA are second with 13 points from seven games.
USA are at home to Mexico in the early hours of Wednesday morning as they step up their bid for Brazil.
