Ashley Westwood has praised the early season performances of Fabian Delph, insisting: "He's just been immense...incredible."
Delph has stood out in games against Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, both breaking up play and dashing forward energetically.
Westwood is not surprised, saying that Delph is always a standout in training too.
And Westwood believes Delph deserves success because of the effort he puts in every day at Bodymoor Heath.
Westwood said: "Fabian has been immense, incredible.
"We get on really well on and off the field. He's similar to me. We are no-nonsense people.
"Last year he was unbelievable. He's taken that on already this term.
"He goes past people like they're not there. It's an amazing trait.
"You don't expect him to run past you but over that burst he's gone and behind you. He does it all the time in training too.
"I enjoy playing with him very much. We combine well.
"I hope he keeps this form up throughout the season. I am sure he will.
"He's got everything. He's a good tackler, he breaks play up really well for the team but he bursts forward too. He's got everything.
"Like me, he probably just needs to chip in with a few goals now.
"But he's strong, he can run all day, he can get past people, he can pick a pass.
"I think it's going to be his year. He just needs to steer clear of injury now and get a run of games. But he knows that.
"He's the first in and he's the last one to leave. He's here to prove a point. He's a great lad. But it's the same with all the lads."
Westwood and Delph have been stalwarts in the middle of the park so far this season.
But the former Crewe man knows that there's intense competition in the centre.
He added: "You know what you have to do. You know if you don't play well you could be out for the next one.
"The manager is in the position where he has good, good players to come in. It's good to have that competition for places."
