Villa v Rotherham: Westwood - We're brimming with confidence

Ashley Westwood says Villa are brimming with confidence heading into the Capital One Cup second round clash with Rotherham.

Upbeat Westwood insists the players are positively cheery despite two defeats in a row to Chelsea and Liverpool in the Barclays Premier League.

Of course, the midfield playmaker says the mood is tip-top because of the manner of performances against the Barclays Premier League heavyweights of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

He said: "We have lost two games, yes, but we're brimming with confidence.

"We accept the three points from the three games. But we feel we deserved more from those last two games at Chelsea and against Liverpool. Our performances warranted that.

"But we don't look back. We now want to go again.

"We're certainly not frustrated or disappointed. We're upbeat and ready for the next game.

"We have Rotherham and we will have a thoroughly professional approach to the match.

"will go about it the right way. Our attitude and approach doesn't change, whether it's Man Utd, Chelsea or Rotherham.

"We will respect them thoroughly. It will be tough too. They will come here eyeing an upset but we have to be professional and go about our job the right way."

Westwood, of course, wasn't involved in the run to the semi-final last time out because he was cup-tied with former club Crewe.

He's relishing getting involved this season, admitting the atmosphere generated at Villa Park for the second leg against Bradford wowed him.

He continued: "I missed out last season. So as you can imagine, I'm looking forward to this season's competition.

"I was gutted to miss out. But for me watching the run was brilliant. Being in and around the place was amazing. It was great to see.

"The atmosphere at Villa Park that night against Bradford? I have never seen anything like it despite going out of the competition.

"The fans had all the flags and the noise they generated was incredible.

"I have never witnessed anything like that before. You could just tell that Villa Park is a special, special place. It deserves the big nights.

"The fans have been incredible for us full-stop. The manager, the fans, the players - we're all united.

"We want to go on another run this season and give the fans something to cheer about again."
