Despite the Reds defeat, Lambert hailed the progress his team have made, insisting: "We've come a long way in a short space of time."

He felt Villa were by far the better team in the second half and should have bagged a point.

The manager also assessed the contributions of summer signings Leandro Bacuna and Aleksandar Tonev.

Okore was next up for media duties after making his home debut.

There were mixed feelings for the Danish defender after his first start as a Villa player.

Okore assessed what has been a difficult but fascinating opening week of the season.

Guzan told AVTV that the result was harsh on Villa after the team rallied in the second half.

You can also hear the thoughts of European Cup winner and AVTV pundit Tony Morley.
