Gabby Agbonlahor is relishing the 2013-14 term after admitting he's feeling sharp.
Strike ace Agbonlahor was electric at The Emirates on the opening day as he won two penalties in Villa's 3-1 win over Arsenal.
Agbonlahor believes his fine early form is down to a comprehensive pre-season programme, something he's failed to accomplish in previous terms.
With a good complement of friendly games under his belt, Agbonlahor admits he's ready for the campaign ahead.
He said: "I think the big thing is getting a good pre-season under my belt.
"I missed out on virtually the whole pre-season last time out.
"I've had niggles over the past few years in pre-season.
"That has slowed me down. This time, I have got quite a few games under my belt.
"Being able to do that, I feel good and feel fit.
"I had a disappointing campaign two seasons ago and then the last two seasons have been better.
"It's nice to get off to a good start for this one too. But I won't get ahead of myself."
Agbonlahor paid tribute to the goalscorers at The Emirates - Christian Benteke and Antonio Luna.
He added: "Christian missed the first penalty. But with the confidence he's playing with, he will put the rebound in even when he's missing penalties.
"It was great for Antonio too. It was his first game and I thought he did superbly against Theo Walcott. It was great for him to get the goal."
