Yacouba Sylla insists Villa have the fire to succeed this season.
Sylla says he loves being part of the young and emerging team being built by boss Paul Lambert.
He insists that the traits of the side are of vital importance - drive, energy, spirit and fire.
Sylla believes the team will also have learnt important lessons from their previous campaign as they head into this season with tough opening fixtures against Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Despite this initial triple threat, Sylla insists that the players will adopt a no fear approach all season.
He said: "The players are excited about the new season just like the fans are too. You can feel their enthusiasm for the games coming up and that is shared by the players.
"We have had a good month of preparation and now we all can't wait to get started and begin from a very good base. We feel ready for the season definitely.
"We begin with games against Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. Even though we are aware that we are playing against some of the top teams, we are going to put that aside and play as hard as we can.
"This is a team with a lot of energy and a lot of fire. That's part of the temperament of the team under Paul Lambert.
"After the experience of last time which was difficult at times, the team has vowed to push on this season and really go for it. We are determined. We have plenty of drive.
"We learned a lot last season and we hope that will show this season."
Sylla admits it's an enormous change for him this weekend.
In his first match of 2012-13, he was in the Clermont Foot team which drew 1-1 with Niort in front of 4,754 fans in Ligue 2.
Now he's preparing for an encounter with Arsenal with over 60,000 fans expected at The Emirates.
He added: "It's an enormous change for me personally. It's absolutely clear what an honour it is to play in the Premier League. But it inspires me."
