Christian Benteke says that Yacouba Sylla's happy attitude off the pitch and driven focus on it are great traits as the midfield marauder looks to impress in his second season in claret and blue.
Benteke and Sylla are great friends and the powerful forward even helps the central star with any language barriers he might have at Bodymoor Heath.
Benteke likes Sylla's upbeat approach towards day-to-day life as well as his determined outlook with football.
The star striker thinks these attributes will serve him well.
He said: "Yacouba is a really good person and a really good player.
"It's not been easy for him because of the language - he speaks French but he's learning English.
"I try to help him all I can. I had the same feeling because I found the language difference difficult at first.
"I was helped a lot at the start. Now I try to do the same with Yacouba.
"He's always smiling off the pitch. And I think he will get better and better on it too.
"He is eager to learn. He wants to improve and progress every day.
"When he comes to the training ground, he smiles and enjoys life but when he walks on to the training field he is very serious and very focused."
