Paul Lambert has praised the ingenuity of Nicklas Helenius as well as his character and mentality.
Helenius picked out two perfect balls to create goals in the 5-0 win over Walsall aswell as starring in other pre-season games at home and abroad.
Lambert likes the forward's vision and skill as well as his personality and attitude.
Boss Lambert has also been pleased with the way Helenius has fitted in during his short time in England and thinks he will go from strength to strength.
He said: "Nicklas is a young lad from another country, so he's settling in.
"But he's a clever player. Some of his touches have been excellent and his awareness is very good.
"He's a different type than Christian, totally different. But I'm pleased with him.
"We've given him an opportunity to give it a go. He's part of a good side with good guys in the dressing room.
"He's got good character and good mentality himself.
"I'm pretty sure he knows the size of this club and the magnitude of it and I'm pretty sure he'll fit in great."
Lambert also threw down the gauntlet to Samir Carruthers, as the willing wideman looks to make an impression this season.
The gaffer insists it's down to Carruthers to impress him.
He added: "Samir has done alright and has been involved with us since we have come back.
"He is a young lad learning a lot about the workings of the game. But he has done fine.
"He's offensive, that's his strength. There are a lot of good players in the side at the minute that he will have to try and dislodge.
"That's the nature of the game so he has to try and fight to get into the side. It's the same for every young player."
