Jores Okore will take inspiration from Premier League defenders past and present as he looks to make an impact in English football.
Okore - Villa's new signing from Danish club Nordsjaelland - revealed his idol as a youngster was French centre-back Marcel Desailly who spent six years at Chelsea.
And the 20-year-old is hoping follow in the footsteps of World Cup winner Desailly by being a big hit in the top flight.
"I really looked up to Marcel Desailly when I was young and I still do," he said.
"He was my favourite player and hopefully I can play like him and bring a lot into the Premier League like he did."
Okore is confident he has all the attributes required to handle the rigours of the Premier League after a pep talk from compatriot Daniel Agger.
The Liverpool defender told Okore that he is ready-made for the English game.
"I talk to him about it but we haven't really talk that much and I'm hoping we can get talking before we start the season," Okore added.
"I have talked to him a little bit about the Premier League and how tough it is to play but he thinks I've got the skill set for making it in this league.
"I do to so that is the only thing that is on my mind.
"I am really looking forward to playing and getting this going and getting the fans inside to see me."
