The middle part of Villa's season saw plenty of ups and downs - but Andreas Weimann was in red-hot form throughout.

Weimann was an unused sub for the goalless draw against Stoke in early December.

But on his return to the starting line-up, he produced a devastating display with two goals in the stunning 4-1 Capital One Cup quarter-final victory at Norwich.

A few days later, the Austrian combined brilliantly with Christian Benteke as Villa earned a memorable 3-1 success against Liverpool at Anfield.

Weimann rifled home a low shot after being teed up by a clever Benteke back-heel in what was one of the goals of the season.

Tougher times followed for the claret and blues, who suffered punishing defeats to Chelsea, Totenham and Wigan over the Christmas period.

On New Year's Day, though, Weimann converted a superb low shot to help Paul Lambert's men hit back with a 2-2 draw at Swansea.

The 21-year-old was also a cup specialist, scoring the winner against Ipswich in the FA Cup as well as netting in both legs of the Capital One Cup semi-final against Bradford.
