Kevin Phillips says Christian Benteke, Gabby Agbonlahor or Andi Weimann have the chance to become cult heroes over the next few weeks.
Former Villa ace Phillips sees four "cup finals" on the horizon for his former club.
And he believes the claret and blues have the firepower to blast out of the basement battle.
Phillips is a firm admirer of Benteke, Agbonlahor and Weimann and believes one of them will make themselves a hero in the big games against Sunderland, Norwich, Chelsea and Wigan.
He said: "I watched Christian on television a few times but then I came to watch him live in person at Villa Park. To watch him live, you get a better feeling for what a player he is.
"When he first arrived I thought he was a bit raw but now he's settled into the Premier League like a duck to water.
"For me he will go on to be one of the top Premier League players. He has got everything. He is strong, powerful, skilful, he can score goals.
"He needs to step up once again to the plate these next few games. You have to give him credit, without a shadow of a doubt. He's just got on with his job.
"The pressure that has been on him has been immense but he's responded. That tells me he can take the pressure on his shoulders. The goals he has scored have been excellent at important times.
"Gabby has fantastic electrifying pace. He certainly knows where the back of the net is. He's on the verge of beating Dwight Yorke's record and that's no mean feat. Fair play to him.
"I'm sure he'd swap all that for scoring the winner against Sunderland - and goals in the other three final games.
"He will be an important player in this final run-in. Having grown up in the area and followed the club, now he's living the dream.
"Andi keeps going. His industry is excellent. There's no point having talent if you're not going to put the work in. If you show heart and a willingness to chase lost causes supporters will take you to their hearts.
"Andreas is one of those sort of players. But he couples it with ability. He has scored some great goals this season. He has a good future. He has shone this season.
"Now for these players it's four cup finals. They know, though, how to win these games - they have done it against the likes of Reading, QPR and Stoke. When they've needed a result, they have got it.
"There's a chance now in these next four games for the likes of Benteke, Agbonlahor and Weimann to make themselves a folk hero to keep this club in the league."
