Villa Ladies preview: Boss Hunt eager for fast finish

Joe Hunt has called on his players to end the season in style.

Villa Ladies have five games left - four league games and one cup final.

Hunt wants a fast finish to the campaign, starting against Leeds at home this afternoon.

He said: "The remaining league games are against two teams above us in Leeds and Sunderland and two just below us in Coventry and Man City.

"Leeds at home this weekend is a great game for us. They are the form team in the division. They can still win the title so I'm sure they will come and try to maintain the pressure on Sunderland at the top.

"We will give it our all. We want to push as hard as we can to accumulate more points to our tally.

"We have a lot of players in good from at the moment too.

"Over the last three games I've used nineteen out of twenty-one players and they have done extremely well.

"My squad is young, hungry and competitive. I'm very fortunate to have such a talented group and they complement each other so well."

Hunt paid particular tribute to tricky forward Livy Fergusson, who has returned to full fitness over the past three weeks.

Hunt has been impressed with what he's seen from the starlet.

He added: "Against Portsmouth Ladies the previous weekend she had her best game in a senior shirt.

"She was quick, strong and direct - all the things that make her a top player.

"What I like about Liv is she will make things happen from nothing. She wins balls from full-backs with sheer determination and turns defence into attack.

"Her goal against Portsmouth Ladies was sensational. The finish was pure class. It arrowed into the top corner from a shot she took when she was running at full pace.

"I'd hate to be an opposition full-back with her running at me. Portsmouth Ladies struggled to contain her and I hope she continues that fine form."

In team news, Hunt confirmed that Dani Petrovic, Carly Davies, Kelly Clarke and Natalie Gibson were all being rested this weekend.

VILLA LADIES: Walsh, Cooper, Lowe, Mannion, Vaughan, Crackle, Richards, Moran, Merritt, McCue, Stringer, Cusack, Fergusson, Follis, Merrick, Jones.

Villa take on Leeds today, kick-off 2pm.
