Paul Lambert expects defender Joe Bennett to win his fitness race ahead of next Monday's clash against Sunderland.
Bennett was forced off with an ankle injury during the second half of the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The former Middlesbrough left-back was replaced by Ciaran Clark, who made his first appearance since hurting his shoulder on Republic of Ireland duty last month.
But Lambert is confident Bennett will recover in time for next week's crucial Barclays Premier League survival showdown with the Black Cats at Villa Park.
The Villa boss was pleased to welcome Clark back into the fold, insisting keeping everybody fit at this stage of the campaign is vital.
"Joe had a little bit of a knock so Ciaran being back was a plus for us, because he's been playing really well," said Lambert.
"I think because Joe's got a full week to recover he should be ok, but he just hurt his ankle there.
"Ciaran was unlucky with the Irish team when he hurt his shoulder. If we can keep everybody fit then we'll be ok."
