Man Utd v Villa: Agbonlahor winning race to face Red Devils

Gabby Agbonlahor is winning his race to be fit for Man Utd.

That was the uplifting news coming out of Bodymoor Heath today on the injury front.

Agbonlahor came off early in the 3-1 win at Stoke with a groin problem and failed to recover in time for the 1-1 draw with Fulham.

But the fab forward has been out on the fields of the training ground with the other players over the past two days gearing up for the clash with the Red Devils.

Lambert is delighted to see the in-form striker back.

The boss will assess his fitness after sessions over the weekend.

Lambert knows that, if fit, Agbonlahor will be a serious threat in the claret and blue line-up.

The 26-year-old has come to the fore over the past few weeks, bagging vital goals against Reading, QPR and Stoke.

Lambert said: "Everyone seems to be fine.

"Gabby is back. So we will see how he is in the next couple of days. Everyone else is not so bad too.

"Gabby picked it up against Stoke. The Fulham game was too early for him.

"It was a problem in the groin area. We couldn't take a risk with it.

"He has trained for the last couple of games and we will see where he is after the next couple of days.

"If he comes through the next few days, he will be in the squad.

"Gabby has been playing really, really well for us. He's a threat. Everyone knows it.

"If he does take the field of play, he is definitely a threat with his pace."

Snap up match tickets for the Sunderland game.
