Stoke v Villa training: Players gear up for Potters clash

Paul Lambert told the press in his weekly media briefing that the mood and atmosphere at Bodymoor Heath is upbeat ahead of the Stoke clash.

That was very evident from the training pictures taken on the eve of the Potters encounter.

Players were focused and determined as they geared up for Saturday but they also showed off positive demeanours, with plenty of smiles on faces.

Despite the low league position at present, Lambert, of course, is boosted by the tight-knit nature of the table.

Villa are a mere four points away from Stoke and they are twelfth in the table so a win this weekend would really give the claret and blues a boost.

Lambert has stressed the need for his players to play their own game - an attacking, fluent style with an emphasis on keeping the ball on the floor.

He insists this is key to emerging victorious in the stressful encounter.

There were injury boosts as the players worked out on the fields of the training ground.

Darren Bent and Brett Holman were both back after missing the Liverpool clash while Andi Weimann was also out there after coming off against the Reds.

Neville Williams, our club photographer, was once again given exclusive access to Bodymoor Heath to snap away at our stars in action.

He's produced some cracking images for your viewing pleasure.
