Paul Lambert has hailed Ashley Westwood on the eve of the Liverpool match this Sunday.
Lambert has been thrilled with the performances of Westwood in the middle ground.
One of the key elements of Westwood's game is his pass accuracy, racking up figures of 91%, 93% and 97% already this term.
Lambert says these completion rates are fantastic and demonstrate conclusively the player's central excellence.
Villa boss Lambert thinks Westwood's contribution can get overlooked because of the low-key way he goes about things on the football pitch.
But he says he will never ignore his importance to the team going-forward.
On the 97% accuracy against QPR, Lambert said: "I'd like to know where the 3% went because he never gave the ball away.
"He keeps it simple and ticking over and because of that, people tend to overlook him.
"You take him out of that position, and the way he plays there, there is a massive void there.
"You wouldn't have thought he had just come through the leagues. He has been fantastic for us."
Lambert was also quick to praise the contribution of Matt Lowton, who has been an ever-present so far this term.
Lowton will be suspended for two games if he receives a booking in the next three games.
But Lambert says you can't curtail his enthusiasm.
He added: "Matty started the season brilliantly, had a little dip along with everyone else, and over the last few months he has been back to what he was doing at the start. He has been excellent.
"He will get a couple of games if he gets booked but you can't curtail somebody. That's the way he plays the game so you can't curtail it.
"You don't want him missing but I'd rather him make a challenge than not and if he has to take the consequences, he has to take it.
"We've other people there to come back in."
