VMF chef Shabed highlights apprenticeship work of Villa

VMF chef Abdul Hussain Shabed is a shining example of Villa's support for the community.

Abdul has been one of our success stories since linking up with the club's critically-acclaimed training restaurant, which is based in Directors at Villa Park.

The student from Aston - who is coming to the end of his two-year NVQ course - received high acclaim in 2011 by scooping Walsall College's Apprentice of the Year award for the Hospitality and Catering section.

Walsall College is one of the key partners in the VMF project, with apprentices working towards a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hospitality Services during their two-year stint with Aston Villa Hospitality and Events.

Abdul has also been invited to have his voice heard among some big players in the hospitality industry at a 'Big Conversation' event in May.

The Big Conversation is a joint initiative between the British Hospitality Association, Springboard and Business in the Community.

It brings together influential industry leaders from the top hospitality businesses with young people to discuss issues like youth employment, work opportunities and apprenticeships.

Abdul's success has further been demonstrated this week as Villa have offered him a full-time position at the club.

Why not come along to our Restaurant VMF this weekend.

It is open on Saturday and Sunday in the Directors Suite of the Trinity Road Stand.
