Andi Weimann paid tribute to the crowd for willing the team on to victory over QPR.
Weimann was at his dynamic best offensively and defensively as he didn't stop for a moment during the high-tempo encounter.
But he said the same compliment could be levelled at the fans who cheered from first minute to last minute in a jumping atmosphere at Villa Park.
He said: "The fans were brilliant.
"They have been fantastic all season. But in the game against QPR they were even better.
"There were nearly 40,000 here in the ground and they were all willing us on to win.
"The reaction I got was great. I want to do my best for Villa. Receiving a standing ovation when I came off was brilliant."
And standing was all Weimann could do in the closing minutes of the game as anxiety took over.
He added: "The last few minutes were tense. I couldn't sit down on the bench. Everyone was on their feet. When the final whistle blew it was magnificent."
Weimann was a big factor in ensuring Villa were indeed ahead in those closing minutes, scoring one and setting up the other in the second half.
He added: "My goal came about following a corner. Joe put it back in. It landed with me, I put it on my left-foot and shot and luckily it went in.
"Joe controlled it well, passed it to me and he went for the one-two but all the defenders went with him so I thought I'd shoot and luckily it went in.
"Christian scored the winner. He's been brilliant. He's scored loads of goals. He got the winner and I was happy to set him up.
