Man City boss Roberto Mancini believes Villa will stay up this season - and go from strength to strength in the coming campaigns.
Mancini was happy with the win, especially given - in his opinion - the quality of the opposition.
Italian manager Mancini hailed Villa in his pre-match press conference and did the same in his post-game media briefing on the back of his side's 1-0 win.
Mancini was adamant that Paul Lambert's emerging team will escape the drop and grow together in the following seasons.
He said: "I'm happy with the win because we knew it was a difficult game because, in our opinion, Villa are a good team. It is strange that they are at the bottom.
"They have good players - young - but good players nevertheless. For this reason, we thought it was going to be a difficult game.
"We knew Villa would start the game very strongly and it was important to defend very well in the first twenty minutes because Villa at home are strong.
"I believe they are a good team. If they are able to stay in the Premier League - and I think this will happen - next season they can do a good season.
"After one season I think they can improve. I like Benteke, N'Zogbia, Weimann... all these players."
