Podcast: Former boss Houllier buoyant on Villa future

Gerard Houllier is the main guest on this week's podcast.

Former boss Houllier joins Jack Woodward for the latest audio bulletin ahead of Manchester City.

Houllier applauds the form of his old charges Brad Guzan, Ciaran Clark, Nathan Baker and Fabian Delph.

He also praises the front four of Gabby Agbonlahor, Christian Benteke, Charles N'Zogbia and Andreas Weimann, saying they hold the key for Villa's survival fight.

He dismisses the concept that Manchester City should be feared, insisting instead that Roberto Mancini's men will be equally wary of Villa's threat.

Andreas Weimann also joins us and says that the lads are heartened by the Gunners game.

Despite the loss, Weimann insists the performance was a source of inspiration in camp.

Weimann is relishing the Man City game, especially as it is under the lights of glorious Villa Park.

Ken McNaught speaks of his admiration for the claret and blue army, supporting the team through thick and thin.

Our former colossal defender believes that level of fervour can fire the team up between now and the end of the season.

Paul Lambert joins us and tells us that the belief is still very much evident.

He believes strongly that Villa will escape the drop because of the commitment, heart and quality in the squad.

Gordon Cowans reflects on the U21s defeat to Fulham.

He calls for a response at Middlesbrough next week, with a good performance thrown in.

You can also check out commentary from Jack Woodward from a host of games this term, including Swansea at home and Liverpool away.
