New signing Jones: Villa Ladies are going places

Chloe Jones has spoken of her delight at signing for the claret and blues, insisting: "Villa Ladies are going places."

Jones swopped Liverpool Ladies for Villa Ladies on Friday and played in the 4-2 County Cup quarter-final win over Copsewood Ladies 48 hours later.

The 24-year-old is thrilled with the move and is relishing the future with a club "full of ambition.

She's also been delighted with the welcome she's received from boss Joe Hunt and the rest of the squad.

She said: "I am really excited. Villa Ladies are going places. They are full of ambition. I am really looking forward to it. It's a new challenge.

"Villa have always been a very ambitious club in my opinion. They have always been well run and I'm thrilled to be part of the set-up now.

"I have been very impressed with Joe. He's been brilliant - so welcoming.

"From the first training session, he's made me feel so comfortable. That's important for a footballer.

"The team have been great too. They have been welcoming and positive with me."

Boss Hunt described Jones as a "wonderful player who will do well for us" soon after signing.

She continued: "It's great to hear. It fills you with confidence but a bit of pressure too.

"But it's nice to think he rates me so highly. Hopefully I can prove him right.

"It's a great mix at Villa. There's experience and youth. There are some old heads in there and some really talented, up-and-coming players too.

"They all work hard and want to do well. The young ones are being guided by the experienced ones. I am delighted to be part of it.

"I enjoyed the first game on Sunday. It was great to get 90 minutes under my belt after four months out of action. I have been keeping myself fit but there's nothing like match fitness."

Villa Ladies are in the County Cup semi-finals, the League Cup quarter-finals and the FA Cup fourth round - and Jones is excited about the challenges ahead this season.

She added: "We're looking forward to it. I think we have a really good chance of doing well because of the squad we've got."
