Stadium tours offer "real insight into fabric of club"

Stadium tours of Villa Park give younger fans a "real insight into the fabric of this great club."

That's the verdict of guide Mick Dale, who is set to be busy next week.

Throughout the half-term holiday, we are running 'kids for a quid', meaning children can check out our grand old stadium at rock-bottom prices.

Our tours pack a punch, with a huge array of locations visited and many a fact dished out.

You'll be able to see the players' lounge, home and away dressing rooms, the physio's room, the tunnel where your heroes appear from and the pitch where they do battle.

You can also check out the press conference room where the media congregate to quiz Paul Lambert post-match.

Then there's a look at the McGregor Statue and the Stephen Farthing Mural, both beautiful sights in B6.

But it's not just about superb settings, it's also about the fabulous claret and blue facts you take in during the two-and-a-half hour visit.

Dale said: "We're particularly proud of our tours here at Villa. There are five of us, who all have our own individual style.

"One thing we ALL offer, however, is an accurate précis of facts and figures surrounding the stadium and the club.

"It's not just about looking around. I feel part of our role is also educating too.

"We'll tell you about the history of the club, the background to all four stands, what happens immediately before the players come out of the tunnel and what the manager has to do with the press once the game is over.

"It's a proper experience and I'd like to think younger fans will get a lot out of it, aswell as supporters who are a touch older in years too."

Our stadium tours take place on Wednesdays, Fridays and selected Sundays throughout the month.

During the week, prices are £12.95 [adults], £7.95 [child] and £37.50 [family].

On Sunday - which also includes lunch - prices are £25.95 [adults], £13.95 [child] and £71.50 [family].

But during the half-term holiday next week, kids can enjoy a tour for a quid. [They must be accompanied by a full paying adult and it's a maximum of three kids per adult. This deal excludes the treasure trail tour on February 22].
