Ashley Westwood is a doubt for the West Ham game with a bug.
Paul Lambert revealed the central star has been suffering with sickness this week and could miss the Hammers clash.
Karim El Ahmadi and Fabian Delph should both be fine after shaking off knee and ankle injuries respectively.
El Ahmadi was subbed at Everton with the problem while Delph missed the Goodison Park game with his issue.
Richard Dunne is still "a long way" away from returning for Villa, however.
Dunne has missed the entire season to date due to a hip/groin injury.
Hopes were raised that the colossal defender might return over the next few weeks following a successful operation in USA to cure the problem.
But the Irish star had another setback after returning to training at Bodymoor Heath on the eve of the Newcastle clash.
Paul Lambert spoke of his disappointment for Dunne but accepted the issue was "part of the game."
He said: "He is away to see the surgeon again for a check-up and we just have to see what happens at the end of the week with that one.
"Listen he's a long way away. He was doing alright and then had a setback on it.
"It's bad news because of the way he plays and his experience.
"But that's the nature of the game."
