Dawkins: I can't wait to sample amazing Villa Park atmosphere

Simon Dawkins can't wait to sample the Villa Park atmosphere on Sunday.

Dawkins signed his loan deal on deadline-day and immediately looked ahead to the West Ham clash this weekend.

The 25-year-old admits one of the first things that ran through his mind after he put pen to paper was the prospect of playing in B6.

He says he's been told many times about the raucous atmosphere that's created in the claret and blue heartland.

His role this weekend is unknown at present but whether he's on the pitch, on the bench or on the sidelines, he's looking forward to the experience.

He said: "I can't wait for Sunday. It will be amazing.

"I am really eager to get out there and sample the atmosphere at Villa Park.

"I have been thinking about it since I signed the contract. I am really excited about it.

"The Villa Park atmosphere is supposed to be amazing. But that's not a surprise because it's a huge club with loyal fans. I am really looking forward to be in and amongst it this weekend."

The last MLS player to sample the B6 buzz in claret and blue colours was Robbie Keane, who played for Villa during his loan spell from LA Galaxy.

Dawkins admits he's thrilled to be following in Keane's footsteps, a guy he describes as a "great person and a great player."

He added: "I have come across Robbie a few times in the MLS.

"The last time, ironically, was when LA Galaxy beat San Jose Earthquakes in the play-offs.

"It was disappointing for me to lose. But I was pleased for him.

"Robbie talks really fondly about Aston Villa. And everyone loves him. He's a great person and a great player.

"Everywhere he's been, he's done well. I'm sure he's happy I'm here."
