Simon Dawkins is keen to make Villa 'smiles' better.

Deadline-day loanee Dawkins can't wait to get started in claret and blue and he says, despite the battle ahead, he'll be having fun out on the pitch.

Dawkins, who joined from Tottenham, hopes his lively attitude will have a positive effect on the camp and the team.

He said: "I am looking forward to this challenge immensely.

"The gaffer said to me when I signed 'just express yourself.' He said he wants me to go out there and do what I've been doing for the last two seasons.

"He wants me to show people what I'm about, make an impact and have fun out there.

"I play football with a smile on my face and I will be doing that here.

"I know if you enjoy your football, positive things happen. That's what I want here at Villa.

"I am really excited to make an impression. I am confident about myself and confident I can do well here at Villa.

"I will give 110% every game for this team. It's a different kind of challenge to the one at the Earthquakes but it's one I'm really relishing.

"You have to enjoy every challenge in football and I am confident we can finish the season well. It's something to enjoy.

"This is a huge, huge Premier League club, you can see that and you can sense that.

"I want to make an impact, definitely. I know from experience that new players can lift a club and hopefully I can help with that.

"The main aim is pushing up the table and I'll be doing everything I can to make sure that happens."
