Thursday media watch [17.01.13 PM]: Foster on Villa

ESPN: West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster says it is unthinkable that Aston Villa could be a Championship team next season. Foster was linked with a move across the Second City from Birmingham a season and a half ago but is now part of a top-half West Bromwich Albion side who could drive another nail into Villa's coffin in Saturday's Hawthorns derby.

Sky Sports: West Brom keeper Ben Foster says it is "unthinkable" that Aston Villa could be relegated from the Premier League this season. Villa, who dropped into the bottom three last weekend following a run that has seen them collect just one point from five matches, travel to the Hawthorns to face the Baggies on Saturday.

Sky Sports: A number of clubs are monitoring Albert Adomah's situation at Bristol City, Sky Sports understands. The relegation threatened Robins have just appointed Sean O'Driscoll, and one of his first jobs could be to try and fight to keep Ghana star Adomah.

Express & Star: West Brom boss Steve Clarke today insisted his players are desperate to "make amends" for their FA Cup exit by claiming derby-day glory against Aston Villa. The Baggies take on Paul Lambert's strugglers at the Hawthorns on Saturday with the head coach backing his squad to respond to their third-round replay defeat to Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday.

Express & Star: Ciaran Clark today predicted Aston Villa will stick "three or four" goals past an opponent in the near future given the number of chances they have created recently.

Clubcall: Aston Villa skipper Ron Vlaar believes that his side can climb clear of the Premier League trap door if they put the work in. The 27-year-old is hoping to back in the starting line-up for the West Midlands derby against West Brom on Saturday after missing out on the last two months with a calf injury. Romelu Lukaku is hoping he can make his FIFA 13 PlayStation dominance over close pal Christian Benteke and Villa a reality in Saturday's Hawthorns clash. The Belgian international strikers have known each other since their early teenage years and have enjoyed a friendly rivalry throughout their careers that will come under the Barclays Premier League spotlight in this weekend's West Midlands derby.

Clubcall: Aston Villa midfielder Charles N'Zogbia believes his side can climb out of the bottom three by going out to attack the opposition. The France international has seen his side continue to fall down the league table conceding 22 goals in the last seven games, but he insists that if they try to attack teams then they will get results. Former Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore believes the club can avoid relegation from the Premier League if they start scoring first in games. The Midlands club have conceded the first goal in each of their last five league outings - letting in 18 in that time during a miserable festive period. Villa currently find themselves inside the relegation zone on goal difference, a situation Collymore feels the club can fix if they start games in a more positive fashion.
