Joe Bennett reckons Villa's victory over Ipswich will give them a vital momentum boost ahead of Tuesday night's trip to Bradford.
After securing a passage into the fourth round of the FA Cup, the claret and blues must quickly turn their attention to the Bantams clash in the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final.
Bennett, who was voted man-of-the-match for his display against Ipswich, says Paul Lambert's team now approach the last-four tie with a spring in their step.
The defender felt there was both style and substance in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Tractor Boys.
"All we were aiming for was to get through to the next round but we played some nice football and that is a bonus as well," said Bennett.
"If we are playing good football now then hopefully it carries on into the next game and hopefully we can play well against Bradford.
"We had a lot of players for the ball which is nice when you've got the ball.
"I think we played well and deserved the win.
"Other than the goal in the first half we dominated possession and we just wanted to carry that on into the second half.
"Every game home or away we want to win it whether it is in the Premier League or a cup game."
Bennett claimed an assist for Andreas Weimann's winning strike with a precise left-wing cross.
The former Middlesbrough ace was pleased to have a hand in the goal - despite being critical of his own delivery!
"It wasn't the best of balls - it was hit quite hard and flat," he added.
"But Andi is scoring goals left, right and centre this season and he did well with the header.
"I was right behind it and it was a sweet header."
Make sure you're there to back the lads against Southampton.
